<div><a href="https://rocketbenelux.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rocket Benelux</a> has announced its plans for 2023 with tournament series totalling €18,550 in prizing, including a weekly €50 event alongside an RLCS-like circuit.</div><div><br></div><div>Rocket Benelux is a tournament organizer serving the Benelux community, which covers the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. The organization has also hosted the official <a href="https://www.twitch.tv/rocketbenelux" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dutch RLCS broadcast</a> since the beginning of RLCS X. Since March 2021, it has run its monthly Rocket Benelux Masters event which has since evolved from a €240 to a €510 prize pool. Additionally, Rocket Benelux has organized several larger tournaments such as the <a href="https://www.shiftrle.gg/events/7558-rocket-benelux-winter-showdown" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Winter Showdown</a> and two seasons of the <a href="https://www.shiftrle.gg/events/35ec-elite-series-summer-2022" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Elite Series</a>, the last of which featured a €7,800 prize pool.</div><div><br></div><div>However, for 2023, Rocket Benelux has announced a significant revamp to its tournament system, detailed below.</div><div><br></div><h2>Challenger Series</h2><div>The <a href="https://rocketbenelux.com/challenger-series" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Challenger Series</a> consists of weekly non-broadcast winner-takes-all €50 events held every Wednesday and is mainly aimed at the community to attract new players to try their hand in a competitive setting. The format of each event is a simple double elimination bracket. The first event is scheduled for January 11th while the final edition of the year is set for December 27th. Much like the other events, the majority of a participating roster must consist of players originating from or residing in the Benelux area.</div><div><br></div><h2>Master Series</h2><div>The <a href="https://rocketbenelux.com/master-series" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Master Series</a> is the spiritual successor to the Rocket Benelux Masters series and takes inspiration from the RLCS format. There will be two Master Series Splits in 2023, Winter and Summer, each featuring three Regional Events. Each individual Regional puts €860 in prizing on offer and has four open qualifiers leading into it, with four teams punching their tickets to the Main Event per qualifier, creating a 16-team showdown. The Main Event format for the Winter Split will be identical to the RLCS 2022-23 Fall Split, with a Swiss Stage leading into an eight-team single elimination playoff bracket. Similar to the RLCS schedule, the Swiss Stage will take place over a single day while the bracket will be spread over two days; one day consisting of quarterfinals and the final day consisting of the semifinals and grand final. The format for the Summer Split will be announced at a later date. The <a href="https://www.start.gg/tournament/rocket-benelux-master-series-winter-regional-1/details" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">first qualifier</a> for Winter Regional 1 will take place on January 9th, with the Main Event kicking off on January 23rd and concluding on January 31st.</div><div><br></div><div>Additionally, Rocket Benelux has made room for individual accolades as each Master Series Split will see four different MVP awards handed out to players. The first three are based purely on statistics, which will of course be available right here on <a href="https://www.shiftrle.gg/events" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Shift</a>: Defensive MVP, Offensive MVP, and Playmaker MVP. Each of these MVPs is worth €90, with €150 being awarded to the General MVP, which will be voted on by the community. The three candidates for the General MVP award will be selected by Rocket Benelux staff.</div><div><br></div><div>Based on their placement in each Master Series Regional, teams will collect points that count towards qualification for the Elite Series. The points system is identical to the one employed during the RLCS Fall Split. The amount of Elite Series spots available to teams coming from the Master Series is to be determined.</div><div><br></div><h2>Elite Series</h2><div>The <a href="https://rocketbenelux.com/elite-series" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Elite Series</a> is the continuation of <a href="https://www.shiftrle.gg/events/35ec-elite-series-summer-2022" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">last year</a>’s identically named series, which featured a League Play format leading to a page playoff bracket, although the number of teams will shrink from ten to eight for this year’s iterations. Just like the Master Series, the Elite Series comprises two Splits, Spring &amp; Fall, each with a €5,000 prize pool. The Spring Split will run from April 17th through June 4th, while the Fall Split is expected to begin in September, but the exact dates will be announced later.
